Colorado is a beautiful place for enjoying the outdoors, and The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is a vibrant institution nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Each time I’ve been out there, I have enjoyed the campus vibe, surrounding town, and wonderful hiking right nearby. Established in 1876, the same year Colorado became a state, CU Boulder has grown into a dynamic community known for providing endless opportunities for students.



Fun Facts:


  • Mascot: CU Boulder's live mascot is Ralphie the Buffalo, a female American bison. Since 1967, Ralphie has led the football team onto the field, a tradition that continues to energize fans. 

  • Unique Location: The campus is located in Boulder, Colorado, which is renowned for its outdoor recreational opportunities, including hiking, skiing, and rock climbing.

  • Environmental Commitment: CU Boulder is recognized for its dedication to sustainability, offering numerous programs and initiatives focused on environmental research and green practices.

Founded in 1876, CU Boulder has evolved from a small frontier university into a leading research institution. Traditions:


  • Ralphie’s Run: Before each home football game, Ralphie the Buffalo charges across Folsom Field, escorted by a team of student handlers. This exhilarating tradition symbolizes the university's spirit and unity. 

  • Fight Songs: CU Boulder boasts three official fight songs: "Glory Colorado," "Go Colorado," and "Fight CU." These songs are integral to athletic events and foster a sense of pride among students and alumni. 

  • The Holiday Festival: An annual event that showcases the talents of over 300 student musicians, transforming multiple locations within Macky Auditorium into festive stages.
