Each time I have stepped foot on this campus, I have felt the sense of excitement and pride shared by all the students. It is a gorgeous campus with easy access to opportunities both on campus, and in the surrounding area.
History:
Founded in 1789, UNC-Chapel Hill holds the distinction of being the first public university in the United States to open its doors to students, welcoming its first class in 1795.
The cornerstone of Old East, the university's first building and the oldest state university building in the nation, was laid on October 12, 1793. This date is commemorated annually as University Day.
Traditions:
First Sip at the Old Well: On the first day of classes, students line up to take a sip from the Old Well, a tradition believed to bring good luck and a perfect GPA.
Senior Bell Tower Climb: During Senior Week, graduating students climb the 128 steps of the Bell Tower to sign their names on bricks, leaving a lasting mark on campus.
Rushing Franklin Street: After significant sports victories, especially against rivals, students flood Franklin Street in celebration, showcasing school spirit and unity.

Total Enrollment: As of 2022, UNC-Chapel Hill had a total enrollment of 31,705 students, with 28,484 enrolled full-time and 3,221 part-time.
