History:

Founded on September 15, 1852, by Rev. John Early, S.J., Loyola University Maryland holds the distinction of being the first institution in the U.S. named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. As the ninth oldest Jesuit college in the country, Loyola has a rich tradition of academic excellence and spiritual development.
